A little bit about me...
This school year is my seventh year teaching, as well as my seventh year at Redwood Middle School. I graduated from Fresno State University in 2002 with a degree in History. I moved to San Jose in 2002 after getting married. By May 2003 I had earned my Social Studies Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. Five summers ago I passed the CSET in English and therefore have earned a second credential in English. In addition to teaching this school year, I will also be a student. I am currently in an MA program at San Jose State University emphasis in United States history.
My teaching philosophy...
I believe that students learn most effectively when they are expected to discover. It is this belief that has shaped my teaching. I am focused on providing opportunities for academic discovery through a variety of projects, cooperative tasks, and challenging assignments. I have two specific goals for both my teaching and my students’ learning. The first goal is to help students learn how to navigate through primary sources to better explore and discovery history. Secondly, I strive at giving students a working knowledge of the writing process.
